Hardcover (Franklin Watts, Jan. 1, 1982)
John Lennon changed rock music when rock music was changing the world. The story of Lennon's life is told here with emphasis on his career as a Beatle superstar and his emergence as a popular cult figure in the late 1960's. From his rebellious life in Liverpool, through the Beatles early years and meteoric rise to fame, Jon Lennon, was devoted to the pursuit of making music. Focusing on Lennon's music, this biography emphasizes his talent for innovation and shows how as a songwriter he expressed his dissatisfaction with conventional society. This fascinating profile also examines Lennon's relationship with the other Beatles, his marriage to Yoko Ono, his controversial protests against the Vietnam War and his experimentation with drugs. Present throughout the book are the humor and originality that made John Lennon a hero in the stormy sixties and continue to touch the lives of people today, young and old.
